An ongoing series in which techniques developed out of found poetry are applied to a contemporary newspaper clipping. The text used was an extract from the front page of The Independent on 3rd February 2007 whose banner headline was Final Warning and which had five purported scenarios for temperature rises by 2100 from +2.4° up to +6.4°. Found is posited here as an ecopoetic, not only because of its inbuilt credentials as recycler, but, more pertinently, for the non-hierarchical and inclusive nature of its processes.
Poems are constructed from a word pool formed by a kind of extreme word search within an individual text (+2.4° generated twenty eight pages), and the letters of each word are then (re-) placed on the page in direct relation to their base text.
Work from Final Warning was featured in The Text is the Text exhibition at Patriothall Gallery, Edinburgh 7th to 18th October 2011 and in the Visual Arts Scotland Annual Open Exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy, March 2012. Also see ECOPOETICS: Language & L=a=n=d=s=c=a=p=e=s.
